Happy Birthday to SFMOMA--75 years young this year. The first West Coast museum to focus exclusively on modern and contemporary art, SFMOMA continues to challenge conventional wisdom of what art museums collect and exhibit. It was here in 1945 that Jackson Pollack held his first solo museum exhibition. The museum was also one of the first to recognize photography as a fine art. Bring a colorburst reminder of what it means to be an internationally acclaimed pioneer in modern and contemporary art with one of 15 banners in your creative space.

On January 18, 2010, SFMOMA became 75 years young, continuing its tradition of championing both the modern art masters as well as less established contemporary artists. SFMOMA was the first West Coast museum to focus exclusively on modern and contemporary art, and continually challenges conventional wisdom of what an art museum should collect and exhibit.

The Anniversary Show features more than 400 works from the museum’s collection; these works represent “moments when the history of the museum has intersected meaningfully with the history of art.” Artists such as Leslie Shows, Jackson Pollock, Jeff Koons, David Park, Richard Diebenkorn, and Barry McKee are represented in the exhibit.

Both sides of the banner sport a colorful starburst design with “75 YEARS OF LOOKING FORWARD” written in white in the center. On the front of the banner, the SFMOMA logo sits at the bottom in white, and on the back, it is replaced by the Koret Foundation logo in white.

These banners were placed around San Francisco starting December 19, 2009 until approximately July 2010.
