Collection: 18th Century English Silversmiths

The emergence of a middle class in 18th century England brought with it increased demand for tea wares, particularly fine silver objects. This coincided with the revocation of the Edit of Nantes in the late 17th century, which drove many French craftsmen to England seeking religion and civil standing. These craftsmen brought with them more refined silver making techniques and the Rocco style, found on many of the finest pieces of the period.
