Collection: Josef Hoffmann

Austrian architect, Josef Hoffmann(1870-1956) was a founder of the Vienna Secession, along with artists such as Koloman Moser, Gustav Klimt, and Joseph Maria Olbrich. Many of them, including Hoffmann, later founded the Wiener Werkstatte, for which he produced numerous objects in many media: ceramics, furniture, textiles, and silver. The Wiener Werkstatte's focus on the interrelationship of function and aesthetics was an influential precursor to modernism.
