Japanese fashion designer Junya Watanabe (b. 1961) began his career as the protégé of Rei Kawakubo at Comme des Garçons. His designs immediately drew attention from the fashion world, and he ultimately began designing an eponymous line under the Comme des Garçons label. He works from his Tokyo studio creating designs that continue to influence the ever-changing trends of haute couture.
