Collection: Mikhail Matiushin
Russian composer, painter, and color theorist Mikhail Matiushin (1861 - 1934) was part of the Russian avant-garde. Like fellow artists Wassily Kandinsky and Kazimir Malevich, he focused on color and abstraction. These artists felt that a new, Utopian paradigm had emerged in post-czarist Russia and it should be visualized in dramatic color. In 1932 Matiushin published The Laws Governing the Variability of Colour Combinations: A Reference Book on Colour".
