Collection: William-Adolphe Bouguereau

French painter William-Adolphe Bouguereau (1825 - 1905) studied in Paris at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts. He continued in a classical vein, traveling to Rome and exhibiting in the famed Salons of Paris in the 1850s. He ultimately became a renowned and influential academic painter eventually teaching at his alma mater. He is known for his history paintings, classical style, and allegorical paintings drawing inspiration from the Bible, Christian imagery, and Greek mythology.
